Countdown

Category: Planning, Site Design

You may want to note the countdown clock at the right. That represents how many days there are until “The Launch”.

Tom worked very hard to make that. It looks great, Tom!

Judge Ito Sidebar: He might sell give you the code for that, if you are interested.

A Note From The Director of Marketing and Sales

Category: Announcement

Thanks Tom, for having me aboard.

As I posted on my own blog, we need help in a few areas:

  1. a graphic designer to help with Logo/banner design, and overall site design (we need you now)
  2. spreading of “The Word”; talking about the site (we hope all bloggers will help with that)
  3. advertising and Sales advice/assistance.
  4. other investors
  5. direct advertisers
  6. review writers (who will be paid for each review)

We hope everyone will consider helping.

Tomorrow I will discuss what else I’m working on.

News Feed Page Layout

Category: Site Design

News Headlines Layout To simplify the process were going to look to news feeds to fill the bulk of news items for the site.  Their will be some original news items but they will be in the minority.  Links from this page will take the user to the originating site/article.  In essence this will serve as a news aggregator from various trusted sources.

Category Page Layout

Category: Site Design

Category Page Layout Here is the proposed skeleton layout for the Category Page.  When a user selects a category from the home page, they will be taken to a listing showing all the reviews within that category.

First Design For Landing Page

Category: Planning, Site Design

Landing Page Layout Here is the first draft of the site’s Landing Page.  I’m pleased with it myself but we’ll see what kind of reaction I get.

Next up is the category layout page.  Fortunately this will be universal for all categories so I don’t need to have them nailed down 100% yet.

I’ve been spending some time learning more about Google Sites. Were using that for our intranet and I’m liking it so far.  It’s easy to add sites to serve as project pages and you certainly can’t beat the cost.

I’m also going to work on adding some sidebar content to this blog detailing what software were using so far in the development process.  Nothing out of the ordinary but I want to keep everyone updated on the process.

Let me know what you think of the layout.

Reworks Already Happening

Category: Site Design

Now that the landing page layout has begun to take shape I’ve discovered that the category map is inadequate.  I’m going to have to retool it some and repost.  That will also throw off the Site Map so expect some reposts of them shortly.  This is where I need input.  If you can think of categories that poker software add-ons can fit in, please leave a comment.

Site Map

Category: Site Design

Site Map After a few revisions the Site Map should be nailed down. If you would like to see anything added or have suggestions now is the time to throw out your thoughts on what you’d like to see.

Category Map

Category: Site Design

Category MapThe basics of site design have begun to take place.  The first step was to finalize a category map for the reviews to live under.  The design was made with future expansion in mind.  This graphic represents what should be our final categories.

A Little Help From Your Friends

Category: Planning

First off I want to welcome Michael “EasyCure” Preedin to the Poker Tech Reviews family. Michael is taking over the role of Director of Marketing and Sales. I look forward to his valuable contributions as we grow this business from idea to a flourishing contributor in the poker community. Michael will begin posting here as things continue to develop so I invite you to stay tuned for his updates.

If you’ve read over our plan so far and found that this is something you want to support, and/or become directly involved in, I encourage you to contact us. We’ll need Writer’s, Designer’s (Graphic and Web), Editor, and many other useful skill sets. Investment opportunities are available as well.

There is still much to be done, and with the right group of dedicated people we will succeed.

So How Do You Make Money?

Category: Planning

Revenue generation will be accomplished through the use of advertising space.  The initial plan is to have a launch sponsor(s) on board who will have all of the advertising space located on the landing page.  Reviews deemed the most popular via page hits will have ads populated by an advertising program.  The remaining pages will feature Google adsense banners.  This strategy will be reassessed based on contractual expirations and performance factors.  In order to generate revenue during the development phase of the site standard blog advertising will be sought.
